Our process is to check the magnet for fuzz on the drive drain plug. If only a little fuzz we keep going. Mercuriser should have recommended gear lube change interval.

Based on my experience, spending the $ to raise the TRS drives and the resulting rerigging of the engine compartment will give you a small preformance gain but a large drain on your wallet.
