RMM i would run a 160 degree... some say 180 degree...i think your engine will run a little better. 140 degree is to cold IMHO. my risers at 160 degree operating temp are also hot to touch for very...

get some water hot on the stove and drop the t-stat in and see if it opens. if you have a thermometer you can adjust to the right temp and drop it in just to check correct degree. what kk1118 said...

mine runs consistently at 160 degrees...always has. mine is a 96 7.4mpi with bravo 3 but should be the same i would think.

is it real bad or is it just crap floating around the edges? i've come across logs submerged at the ohio and miss rivers which didn't do much damage but that was a jet boat! i bet one of them would...

the seawater pump is pretty straight forward on install so the gauge sounds like a good culprit. wouldn't take a whole lot to plug the line or the gauge.
