Air Time, That's GPS. I'm running it with a 22 pitch Raker prop. The boat seems to like those. It's a heavy boat, but it rides real well in the rough. The 1991 KC drive is cone clutch (if I remember...

The 460 engine will have the King Cobra drive behind it. This is quite a bit bigger, and stronger than the one behind the small block (which is still stronger than an Alpha). If maintained properly,...

If you're getting the hesitation when you open the secondaries, the first thing I would check is the secondary air valve spring. It's probably too loose. I haven't seen one properly adjusted on a...

When I worked for the city (NYCT), we had a Snap on torque wrench calibrator. I checked my wrenches yearly. They were all pretty much right on the money. I checked them at increments to about full...

A friend of mine bought a new 23ft Sea swrill fishing boat with a V6 outboard. He had the dealer bottom paint it, and they used a hard epoxy bottom paint. The following season, he sanded, and painted...

Take an ohm meter, and check the continuity of the heavy cable from the battery to the solenoid, and the one from the solenoid to the starter. Or at least take a test light, and check at each...

Re: Another Camshaft Question

azk4536, The boat sounds good.
I have the video of the 270 cam posted, but not the 262 yet. the 270 was done with a digital video camera, so it was easy to transfer. the 262 was taped on an 8mm...

Re: Another Camshaft Question

Just an update guys,
I went with the XM270H cam, and replaced my exhaust manifolds with a set of GLM center rise OMC style. The old setup was XM262H, and Aquapower Mercruiser style center rise...

Re: gas sender unit

Ground the sending unit wire directly. The gauge should go full scale. If it does, then it's probably the sender. If not, check gauge power (because you already changed the gauge).

Re: Electrical gremlin!!

I have to agree with Steve H, and boatputz. Having an electrical background myself, I've dealt with similar issues in both boats, and cars.
I really sounds like a bad ground to me. That could also...

Re: Water Pressure Switch

West Marine sells a water flow alarm kit.
It has a flow sensor you put in the pump line.
As soon as water flow stops, it sets off an alarm on the dash.

Re: Replacing the friggin' steering wheel!

I was just going to say what steve said about the nut, and the brass drift.
The best way would be with a puller, but if you don't have that, screw the nut on till it's flush with the top of the...

Re: Modify early Intake to fit newer SBC ?

For what you're doing, you're better off buying the later manifold new.
At gmpartsdirect.com it's only $170.00. The part number is: 14097494
That's the Z28 style high rise manifold for the 87 and...

Re: what prop?

I have a 211 Liberator, and the boat really seems to like the SST Raker prop. I use an SST Viper as well, but the Raker seems to carry the bow a little better. According to the OMC specs, the drive...

After the town cut down the tree in front of my house, I went to HomeDepot, and bought 2- 4x4x12's, 2-2x6x10's, 2-2x6x8's, some 2x4's, and some carriage bolts. It took me a few hours to bolt together...

Re: Looking for a thermo switch??

What you probably want is a thermostatic fan switch.
You know, the ones they use in cars to turn the electric fans on.
I think a KEM RF3 might be in your temp range (at least that's what I found on...

Re: Exhaust Riser gasket change

Thanks for the info.
Were you able to use the studs from your original manifolds, or were they the wrong length?
Are you going to be getting another boat?

Hey Fund,
How are the manifolds working out for you?
I haven't bought a set yet, but I'm planning to soon.
Mine are shot.

The power packs on these TV's are regulated power supplies.
The voltage is very clean (filtered), and accurate. Much cleaner than you're getting from the boat. these newer sets are more sensitive to...

Re: Basic Engine Stuff

You don't want to tee a temp sensor with the pressure sender. The oil there is not moving so you won't get an accurate temp reading. You want to put it somewhere where there's oil flow, like a remote...
