I wouldn't waste my time installing rod bolts and resizing rods. You can buy a new set of floating wrist pin rods for $300 and be money and time ahead.

I have seen several 502 pistons burned at that exact spot. JE makes a replacement that is a couple thousandths bigger. Pretty much a hone and go. I would go ahead and bite the bullet and freshen them...

I would guess that it will take around 800hp to run 90. a 525 boat will almost run 80 and they make about 560hp. figure about 200hp to pick up 10mph. There might be some gains other than Hp though,...

The overheat condition can cause the rings to lose their tension. If you are truly seeing 40-50% leakage past the rings, they have lost their seal. Pull it out and tear it down.

I would stick with a 4.25" crank in a std deck block. 540, 555, 565ci depending on what your block can be bored to. The 572 really works better in a tall deck block
