Sad Salvage-42 Baja, Galveston Bay
The following site contains photos of the recovery of a 42' Baja that was recently involved in a tragic accident.

From another board, they said the owner was testing his engines out just before the big Labor Day weekend at Lake Travis. Apparently, he was alone when it happened
News report: "After finding a piece of the boat with identifying markers, the Coast Guard determined it was Mike Nixon's 40-foot power boat that had struck the barge. His boat had broken apart, and then sank near Marker 59 and Red Fish Island, Turner said.
Turner said Nixon, 54, had just finished making repairs to the boat, and was driving it alone.
"He was just out test running it - getting ready for Labor Day weekend in Lake Travis," Turner said. "For some reason - probably darkness - he didn't see the barge. It's...easy to do."
He was from League City Texas and the name of the boat was "Living Extra Fast" (his Searay is named "Living Large")
He had a lot of friends; dozens who joined up with the Coast Guard out to search for him with helicopters and boats in the days following the accident. I haven't heard yet if they've found him.
He was engaged to be married in April.

The Coast Guard suspended its search for long-time League City resident Mike Nixon last Thursday, but his friends did not give up so easily.
The Coast Guard contacted several of Nixon's friends in Clear Lake who immediately joined the search. The rest of the boat was found at about 1 a.m. Thursday, but there was no sign of Nixon.
Dillard said the Coast Guard's policy is to "search as long as there is a reasonable expectation of survival," and that calling off a search is "one of the most difficult decisions we have to make as search and rescue professionals."
Their search was called off on Thursday at 8 p.m. But Nixon's friends kept looking.
"We had approximately 10 to 12 boats out there most of the day Thursday, and a friend off of Clear Lake had his plane out until 10 p.m. (Thursday) night," Turner said.
On Friday, another search party was assembled at the Turtle Club at 6:30 a.m. In addition to seven boats, Clear Lake resident John Weth volunteered to patrol the area with his helicopter, Turner said.
Nixon, a former member of the Texas Offshore Power Performance Squadron, had no family in the area, but was engaged to a Clear Lake woman. The couple was planning an April wedding, Turner said.
Turner said he and the rest of Nixon's friends are now awaiting a judge to declare Nixon deceased so they can plan a memorial service. Although there are no official arrangements yet, a service may be held as soon as this Saturday, he said.
