Any opinions or experience on going from bravos on a 1998 38 t/g with 500's and changing to 16" boxes with XR's??? any opinions or ideas welcome!!!

I would call Phil or Tres on this.

I had a straight bottom with 650hp/boxes and XR's. The boat may have been faster with this setup. However, the downside I believe was the porpoising. I could be wrong but my buddies without the boxes didn't seem to have the problem nearly as bad or at all.

I honestly am not 100% sure but the boxes should really get rid of the porpoising issue. At least that is what everyone tells me. But I will take in any opinions.

I can only tell you that I had the setup you're after and I saw more porpoising with that boat. Find the sweet spot AND sweet speed and the porposising went away but it was brief. Change anything (even just a fraction) and you're back to re-dialing in the boat.

Our TS Gun is awesome - very little input if any. Still getting used to it.

I noticed this as well. I own Shweeng's old TG. When I first started trying to figure out the best way to drive the boat I was using a little trim and some tab and the boat did porpoise unless I used tab until about 55 mph. I now have owned the boat for 6 months and think the boat runs better with no tab (only to get up on a plane) and the drives tucked until 55 mph then trim and fly

You will run into porpoising with the props so far out back there.

My humble opinion.

Important is if your TopGun is one with full cabin or without cabin. The TG's without has the porpoising problem and
with boxes the problem increasing.

With all the 90s top guns we installed boxes they needed a rear lifting strake adjustment. we did slight fiberglass mods and they liked it.
