Fred,

I ask again....
My Merc pump has the back of the housing with 90* fittings that point downward to clear my Stef's Oil pan. Do you have a solution for that?

Thanks
Dick

Trying to install mine right now and having same issues. Did you guys use the stainless wear plate between new pump and pulley housing? If you were to do it again would you drill out like ..Lightning did or try to cut and drill like P4 did?

I remember having some of the same minor issues when I installed mine. I ended up rotating mine to an angle that fits, which required drilling new mounting holes. Not precision machining, but some trial and error. It clears my mechanical fuel pump and my gil oil pan and still has enough adjustment to remove and tighten the belt. So far mine has worked great!

Dick, I have both a straight fitting (output) and a 90deg fitting (input) on mine. Fred sells these, and they are some very pretty stainless hardware pieces. I'm pretty sure the pump housings have 1 1/4" NPT (maybe 1 1/2"?) threads, so your local plumbing should be able to set you up with brass, too.

Doug, sorry, but I didn't see that part of my install... my head was down in the bilge when the pump housings went together. I'll see if I can find out.

Anyone else with an answer?

Ok.. here is a pic.. well if it works...

My question is, with the 90* on the KPM pump will they make the down turn before they bump the motor mount?
In other words, how long is the pump housing and fittings combined??

If it will fit, I am ordering one!!

Thanks
Dick

Thanks Brian, I don't have my old one out yet but from looks of another housing and the new one, I don't think the plate is used. I should give Fred a call. Dick, Here is a pic with the old plastic housing and the new one with straight fittings. If you need any other pic's or measurements let me know. Thanks, Doug

Fred, Thanks for the great service and answer. Dick, Sorry you can't see the ruler better. My old stock housing measures 2 3/16, the KPM is 2 5/8, both without fittings. The straight fittings Fred provides are longer than the ones on the plastic housing. You will have to talk to Fred about the 90's. It sure looks nice, No comparison with the plastic. It's kinda a shame nobody will see it ,but I'll know it's there. Doug

I hear you.. way down in the bilge like that, but you can sleep better at nite, right!!

Well Fred, can you tell me how much length the 90"s will add to that 2 5/8" measurement???

I just have the feeling that my present pump could give way and I dont have a back up.. Of course, as soon as I order it.. the old one will be upset and die just to spite me.. Shhhhhhhhhh.. dont anyone tell the old pump I am going to get him a new housing...

Thanks
Dick

Dick, you have a ton of room to use 90deg fittings. Freds fittings are (I'm guessing) only a 1/2" longer than the ones shown in your picture. If you can picture this... they have 1 1/2" or so in length of npt threads, (most of this ends up inside the pump) then 1/2" wide hex shoulder to get a wrench on, then the straight 90 (no sweep) behind that. They are polished stainless, and are nice looking pieces. No one will ever see them, but as Doug says you'll know they're there.

I'm kicking myself in the azz for not taking pics of my finished install, and I've tried to stand on my head to get pics of them in my boat. But my fuel system is blocking the view.

Fred,
The pump was there when I returned from boating on Friday.. Took a good look at it today during breakfast.. LOL! What a beautiful piece..
One thing.. I tried to screw in the two 90* fittings.. it was a no go.. holes are too close togther... I have some ideas. I will give you a call on Monday..

Thanks
Dick

Yes.. shorter ones will work. I thought about cutting these, but then you loose the ridge that helps hold the hose..

I am thinking the fittings that Wette Vette has on the back of his.. If I had one of those I could screw one in and bolt the other on. They would be offset a bit but who cares.. it has enough beauty to carry, we just need the functional part...

Bolted up the frount motor mount and found that I'll
have to do a little air-arc on the mount in order for
the hoses to fit.
No big deal.............
