From the #'s your giving...It does seem in the range. 310HP-60....425HP???? Quite a big difference there. 37% more HP for a speed gain of 20%. From earlier posts it will be interesting to see if the drive height on this boat might be a little higher with the 496. Lots of things come into play when adding speed.

What is the weight difference between a 26 and a 28? Does the 28 have steps, etc which make it a more efficient Hull? If not I would also believe if your running 67 in a 28 72 is believable in a 26.

Not knocking your post...just trying to get all the info I can!

Thanks for your input!

A cheaper option to get what you are looking for might be one of those RAYLAR options. Hear they do great things for the 496's. You can get the same hp for less and use the money saved on a good set of tabs to calm her down...

A 260 will not run low 70's on GPS with an HO. You might see 70 + on a really happy speedo, but not GPS. The 280 PQ is a single-step hull.

I don't doubt you are correct. I have never riden in a PQ so I don't know. I will let you guys know what it runs on GPS this spring if the deal goes through! At this point I believe I have pretty much decided to leave the boat stock.

Might have a nice well built procharged 454 with 50 hours on it for sale if you think you might know anyone with an interest!

Again...thanks for all the input!

If you are asking me I gained 2-3 mph. Another second to get 'er up on plane but well worth it if you can pick them up cheap. Not sure it would be same result since I have a 38....

I think you will really enjoy the boat as is. A friend of mine has a '97 290 PQ with twin 454's on our dock. I've come close to buying both a 260 and a 270 PQ in the past but for different reasons the deals never worked out. Always been on my short list of boats I would own. Keep us posted!!

I have a 280 w/ 502 and a labbed 26 B-1. Actually ran faster w/ a 1" drive extension 68.6 gps with 1/2 tank and 2 guys. (About 400lbs). By myself light fuel almost 70 gps. I'll be sending the prop back to bblades for some more tweaking...

Well! I made it home from Ohio with my new baby in tow! Why is it when I buy something up north the weather always F's with me? Stopped at a wash bay and cleaned all the damn roadsalt off even before I got home.

I must say I am astounded at the condition of the boat I bought! The boat is as close to mint as a person can get with a 4 year old boat. Was always rack stored and the trailer was only used for winter storage! No shoes allowed in the boat, etc. Boat has somewhere around 90 hours on it! I may not have the hotrod potential I wanted but we will definately enjoy this ride! All my wife can say is it's a pretty boat!

IS SPRING HERE YET!
