Default Fountain buying Baja Molds?

I have heard from a reliable source that Fountain is going to buy some of the Baja molds to come out with a lower priced line at Fountain. Brunswick is selling off Baja. Anyone else know more?

It would make sense for Fouintain to do a secondary line- some association but avoiding brand dilution.

At the same time, it wouldn't make sense for Baja to sell just the molds. The entire company- maybe. Baja's value isn't in a pile of molds, alot of it is the brand name and recognition.

I know Fountain's are fast and ride good but I feel the fit and finish are pretty much the same with the two, is it that much cheaper to build a non stepped boat or are they going to under build the Baja line ? .

I believe Baja is already owned, at least in part, by Brunswick. They fell out of trust years ago with MerCruiser/Brunswick, which gave controlling interest.

under the Baja section there is something about it. I can't imagine they would completely do away with Baja's. They still do sell alot of them

I have several friends who work at Baja and theese kinds of rumors come out of the factory on a regular basis. Hell last year there was a Fountain sitting in the lot at the plant and the next thing you know "Reggie bought the place"

There very well could be some dealings happening between Brunswick, Baja, and Fountain but at the rate that rumors fly out of that place I will belive it when I see the Brunswick press release.

How much cheaper is it to rig a baja hull than a fountain hull?
