Just bought a 30' OceanPacer...

Any body with help or info on these boats will be a lifesaver. I'm repowering an 83 with 525hp 468s and I'm looking for all kinds of goodies. Tie bars for TRSss2m drives, four blade props, exhaust systems, bolsters. I'm basically re-rigging the whole boat and would appreciate any input. The boat was built in 83 for a developer in the Boston area, and I guess there is a picture of it in the lobby of Sutphen Marine. I'm hoping for mid to high eighties with a 1:1 Bw tran./1:35 drive prop?

Hey Darkhorse: great choice in boats, Bill whose board name is Sutphen30 would be the guy to talk to. I have some older literature on the 30 that I could fax you if you'd like. When I had my Sutphen I found the factory to be a great help, nice people. Did you buy the boat in Boston (that's where I am)? Do you have any pics you can post?..good luck with the boat, let us know how its coming...Matt

thanks for the info, Bill relied also. I'd be really happy to get any info you have, will get a fax # to you ASAP. I grew up(sort of)
in Quincy and live in Braintree now. Its black with red and silver stripe down sides and says IMPULSE on the side. It used to be yellow, orange, white and sort of brown? The other guys I crew with have some nice set-ups too; 38'Betty Cook Scarab with two 1000sc Mercs, #5s called HEAT WAVE and a 30' open Bay Watch Scarab that goes 65-70 on 6footers all day.

My humble acceptance upon access is given...thnx for the holla! I dont know if I'm being over eager, but I messed up in my thread with the Hp #s...The motors are set up to run 525 with a worked holley 780 and a chevy high rise marine...the dominators just came into the picture so hence the 550hp. Am I too hopeful for these #s? The motors are 468, speed Pro 10:00-1 pistons, the same cam as the 575sc and 525 natural Merc motors, World Grumpy Jenkins 310cc heads Crane Gold rockers MSD everything
blueprinted and balanced four bolt blocks with polished cranks and rods. Dana at Custom Automotive did the honors(CamCo racing engines)

Hey Bodyshot
thanks man... I think she's gonna be beautiful when I'm finish, I just am going to take my time. I tried to find a web site for Sutphen Marine or even an address, but no luck. Anybody out there with the 411? Question for all you boating maniacs; the motors were built to spin 525-550hp at 5000 rpm...the safe zone for BW velvet drs and TRS drives? The motors will spin 6500-7000rpm and make 600hp up there. Whats the best advice for a guy who LUVS rpms and horspower(as we all do). Prop for 5000-5500 or 6000 plus? I'm also going to post on the tech section...

Remember; wherever you go...there you are (at 75mph tapping 8footers!!!)
