Default Tsunami Sutphen

met some guys selling this bad Sutphen at loto.
they did a great job restoring her.
dont know much of its history but the seller said it won some races in its day.
thought Too Old would enjoy seeing some pics of it.

strange deal. ran 10 miles up the lake , idled for 10 minutes talking to Mitch , ran another mile up to shooters 21 for lunch. boat ran fine , not sluggish.
ate lunch for 35 minutes , came back to the dock and water is almost over my swim platform
jumped in , turned on the bilge pumps , opened hatch , water up to the bottom of the alternators.
opened cabin , 6 inches of water in there
bilge pumps caught up with the water pretty fast actually.
then Mitch helped me track down the leek.
thru hull fitting for the toilet had broke completely off.
looked like a big drinking fountain shooting a foot up in the air.
Mitch stuffed a rag down in the hole. ran 10 miles back to my trailer with my girlfriend down below holding her hand over the hole in extremely rough water.
$1.50 threaded cap at the hardware store and back on the water in a couple of hours.
not sure why the bilge pumps didnt come on automatically but its getting fixed this week.

i was just a little feaked out when all this happened.
Mitch was a huge help!!!!

IIRC the restoration of that boat was covered in Hot Boat several years ago. I'll have to dig around and see if I can find the article.
