undefined I have a 1996 mercruiser 502.In the process of winterizing the motor, I pulled off the inlet water hose from the outdrive to the water pump and the outlet hose from the pump to the oil cooler. I went to reinstall last weekend and i'am not sure if inlet connects to the bottom of the water pump or top?

The one with the X if you have the same pump.

My reg old pump has the outlets faces straight back. The top is the output to the cooler,the bottom is the suction hose(ruff wrapped appearance) that goes to the outdrive.

It is possible to mount the pumps rotated so the outlet can be up or down look at the back for left out that is the outlet port hard hose is the suction to transom or sea strainer soft hose is outlet to coolers

Good point,and bring a mirror and flashlight. They will say "inlet" and "out".
