Oil filter question .. these are not the throw away type.
Now that I got the pump fittings all worked out
and all the oil out of the blocks ... how do you change the filters in this thing??
They are the 'permanent' filters, not spin on, spin off, throw away, type. I have never dealt with these.
Figure I need to 'spin' off the front cover, drain it, clean the screen and replace, but unless I get something, like a pan, under them, the qt. or so of oil in ea. one will be all over the bilge. Is that the way to drain and clean these things???
Pic below was of the fitting I needed,,, and replaced, but it also shows one of the oil filters with the black fins that I'm talking about.
((I'm getting there, once I do this one time, it'll be a breeze going forward LOL))
Thanks again Chris

The end has a hex on it to use a wrench. You unscrew it and the filter is inside. I used a small square muffin tin under it to catch the oil. Be careful cause some more will come out with the filter element also. The filter is all metal and just needs to be cleaned with brake clean or in a parts washer.

Thanks Ted
Couple questions:
- How are the effectiveness of these compared to standard filters? Better ... hopefully?
- Are a lot of mills running these things
???
- What application/motor are these most useful in?
I have 468ci w/250 B&M blowers, block capacity holds like 7 qts oil. Are these good / bad?!?!
Thanks for all input!!

They seem to work real well and the oil stays fairly clean with them. When Greg P had the boat he had some issues with paper filters clogging due to condensation. These filters will not do that. They seem like a pretty good product overall but they are pricey so that is why they are not as widespread.

Thanks Ted
