Question 496's in a 94 Top Gun????

Guys....please help me!!! I am getting ready to purchase a pair of 496's and need to know if they will fit in a 1994 Top Gun. I currently have 502's with one inch between manifolds.
Thanks for any help!!!

Just buy em and if they don't fit it's a great excuse to re-rig the boat with a full stagger setup. Out of curiosity though, why would you want to put twin 496's in it. twin 425HP motors won't be all that exciting in that boat and perfomance parts for those things are scarce at best so far. If it's reliability youre after there are plenty of good 502 based EFI motors on the market that I think would serve you better now and in the future. No matter how fast it goes with the power you put in it, the first time you put it back on the trailer you will already be ready to go faster and that gets comlicated and spendy with the 496's. Just my oponion .

Sure they will fit, Mark Bentley had one for sale that he re-powered with 496's. Its a good alternative to the 502's

Cool Re: 496's in a 94 Top Gun????

The 496's will make excellent replacements for stock 502 EFI's and they will have more power and torque. the 496 exhaust manifold are narrower than the old 502 exhaust manifolds so you should have more room between the motors. The main cable plugs to the motors if they are the 10 pin type should plug right in and the conversion should not be difficult at all. good Luck!

I bought a boat that had 496HO's in it before and put my 502's in and the motor mount are different and the exhaust comes out at a different place. Had to make a 1" block between the mainfold and riser to get the right height for the tail pipes. Can be done.
