May have sold the boat to an individual to British Virgin Islands. This dude wants me to fax him a letter to present to his bank a partial loan to make the deal happen. He wants my address and the boats serial #.
Then he adds the bank will wire the $ to my bank.

Any suggestions ? I'm a little leary of this.

If you realy want to try this i would open a new bank account and not have anythign linked to it at all. Then give him that info....about the only way i can see it being safe for you bank wise

He did'nt ask for any bank info yet. Just a bill of sales. I said it would'nt be worded as sold but an interest of purchasing the boat for X amount.

Good idea about the seperate account# not linked to another. If he did wire $ to an account, would you need to claim/file taxes on that?

There are a LOT of speed boat guys in Tortola I can tell you that much. I would be carefull but also I would not be so fast to dismiss it. Ther is a guy on the board from Tortola who may be able to veryify things for you. I do not remember his name but a quick search for Tortola should bring it up.
