Default Who has supercharged their STOCK 350?

Who here has supecharged their stock Merc or Volvo 350/5.7? I am considering a B&M 144(low profile 142) on my Volvo 5.7 Gi. Compression on this motor is fairly low at 9.1:1 and I'm thinking with a mild boost of 4-5lbs the cast internals should survive. I want to hear some first hand experience, both good and bad, with 4-5lbs boost on stock 350s with cast internals.

Thanks

same ?'s but i have a 350 merc mag mpi. Found a procharger on some sites in the mid $4000 range. It says 5-7 boost will gain 50-65% prop hp. Will this leave me up the river with only one paddle after a season or 2?

5 to 7 psi will be fine for the stock engine but you might need to use plus or maybe premimum fuel. Also make sure your fuel system is healthy. good pump, clean filters YADA YADA

I wouldn't do it if you have an Alpha drive.

No alpha for me, a Volvo SX. I've been told by a few people that you're okay at 5lbs or under. Over that you are pushing it with the high comp ratio, cast crank and pcast pistons. I was hoping that there were a few people that had done this that had some pointers. Don't want to learn the hard way!

Maybe all the small block owners are waiting to here YOUR results so they don't have to learn the hard way!

Can you supercharge without changing exhaust? Will stock exhaust breath well enough??

I put a complete Vortech kit on Volvo 5.8 (Ford). Just as I got it done, I stopped using the boat. I took everything off, and sold the boat stock.

Still have the blower, pulleys, fuel pressure regulator, boost and EGT gauges and a bunch of other parts if you're interested. Send me an email or PM. Pictures are here.

The SX drive is used in big-block applications, so you will be fine.
