I can install the Merc distributor body if I remove the cap, but there's no room for the cap. Looks like I need a distributor with a small diameter cap. What are you guys using?

Its easy if you go with a MSD crank trigger and crab distributor......otherwise a standard MSD will fit with some grinding of the intake with a dremel for clearance. Be sure to check the thickness as you go so you don't take away to much material........Obviously I ran into this problem a few yrs back and I could find nothing................Only prob with a crank trigger is all the accessories will have to be spaced out the thickness of the pickup......

Should have said the intake has been converted to port injection, so the distributor has to be compatible with EFI. I have a MEFI3 distributor I'm going to try next. Is the MEFI4 distributor the same?

This is a MEFI4 distributor from a 2002 HP500EFI. Other than the blue color it looks a lot like the red MEFI3 distributor from a 1996 502MPI. Both caps look smaller than what I tried first. I can't use a crank trigger because of pulley alignment issues. I'll make this work if I have to alter the intake to do it.
