50' Hustler XR Drives W\ 575 's ? Pro's \Cons

A lot of boats with 575s are for sale and Mercury doesn't make them anymore. Any clues, yet?
Second, its a very heavy boat for those XRs (even if you have 3).
Lastly, it seems to me that there's a lot of Hustlers for sale, as a percentage of Hustlers built. It might be as high as 100%

A Fountain owner made the same claim last fall. Then someone compared the number of Fountains vs Hustlers for sale on OSO. Turns out there were a ton of Fountains listed and just a handful of Hustlers. As for the Hustler 50, it's a BIG boat. Too big for 575's with any kind of Bravo based drive. Then again the original owner of my boat wound up with a Hustler 50 with triple Sterling 1300's. So my opinion is just a bit skewed. Can't recall the manufacturer, but there was a messy deal reported on oso about a similar type of Bravo setup that just would not survive rough water hole shots. Wound up going back to the builder for SSMV's. For what it's worth...

Hideaway Marina has a 1998 50' Hustler with triple BRAND NEW 1100hp Cobras. Triple #6 drives. The boat belonged to a friend. Give Eddie a call and tell him Lucky Strike sent you.

scott at suncoast has a hustler listed with the same pkg, boat will run out pretty good not any worse than a trio of 500hps and bravos in a fountain
Just have to be carefull on the hole shots and launches out of water with them, you do the service you would be safe other wise. As for the motors they seemed to be popular and with a couple of pulley swaps and some other tweeking you can crank them up. There was a thread about them on here I thing in the tech section on the small mods to do to them.

Customryder: No beefs with Hustler, no axe to grind. Just offering the guy an honest opinion because he asked. You have to agree about the 575s and XRs. As far as the Hustler goes, they're great looking boats but it does seem that a lot of them are for sale relative to the amount of them out there. Sure, there's a lot of Fountains for sale, but there's a hell of a lot of them out there and they seem to hold their value pretty well. Like I said, it was just my opinion and you know what they say about opinions: They're like rectums. Everyone's got one and they all stink!

anyone can make a cheap shot about a boat brand... most of us keep our negative thoughts to our-selfs. also maybe some of them should look in the mirror first. nothing personal. i for one do not see a particularly high # of hustlers for sale. i know i did not have many choices when i was looking to buy one.
