I agree, most piers and wood pillings are pretty durable and it would be almost impossible to damage them with you fiberglass resin bucket..........

Seriously you could get those huge foam pads but they look so gay it defeats the purpose of owning the boat in the first place...

I owned a Gladiator and it drove me nuts that it didn't have rub rails. You just have to be really careful and have good help on board at all times.
