I just purchase a 33' Formula SS with 7.4 mpi's 270 hrs. Coming into the Manasquan Inlet I lost the port engine. Started bucking and backfiring and then shut down. Would only run at idle. Pulled to the dock and cleaned the gas filter and it ran well for a while and then started again. Does not seen to be allot of stuff in the filter.
How do you take off the air filter on a 97 7.4 mpi?
Where can I get parts online for these engines?
Any good marine electronic service centers that will come to a boat in Toms River?

I ran from Freeport LI to Manasquan NJ bout three hours at 3,000 rpms.
Engine started shutting down when I went down in speed. No water was present.
Thanx

Ok roger that.
Didn't know how long of a run.
I was thinking fuel, rather than spark.
But that was a long run without trouble to be water in the separator.
Never mind.
Good luck though.
Maybe somebody will jump in with a better idea.
