Would also help if a guy had access to parts, gauges and so on at say a wholesale price.

Thats a great deal, for 110,000 all it needs is an interior, guages, motors, drives, trannies, hardware, and someone to rig it. At least it comes with a trailer so you can roll it around everywhere getting it finished.

Yep, only another 200-300K in parts, labor, and paint and she'll be a runner!

let's all throw a guess at how much it would cost for that boat to get finshed . too old ya cann't say in this one cause with all your hook ups ya would have it done for 50,000 i say 175,000 with #6's and blower motors plus everything else it needs . so it would be a total of 285,000 for 04 38 powerplay with number 6's and blower motors chit that sound like a steelllllllll

Just guesstimating...
  • Merc 1075's are what, $100K a pop with #6's? So a pair is $200K right there. Figure you can go after market for 50% fo the cost, you're still looking at $100K for motors, trannies, and #6 drives, if you're lucky.
  • Paint, figure $20K for a nice job
  • Gauges, tabs, misc other parts, another what, $5-10K? Let's call it $5K
  • Rigging - unless you're Too Old, someone's got to take all that fancy hardware and wire it together, right? Admittedly, I've never had the opportunity to have this sort of work done, but I'm guessing that its not free. Let's say $10K.

So you're looking at, conservatively, another $135K on top of the $110K for the hull. Plus the added joy of monitoring all the subcontractors (engine builder, painter, rigger, etc). And I'm guessing the factory support might be somewhat less than stellar...

Of course, when Cig is getting $500K+ for Top Gun, a do-it-yourself old school 38 footer for $250K or so kind of looks like a bargain...

...you could go the cheap route...

-Who needs gauges anyways??
-4 Eggbeaters aka Midnight Express style
-Get a couple bar stools from Home Depot

75k more and you have an Apache'

Name it "PowerScalper" and you are all set!
