Anybody know if there is an automotive cross reference. The Mercury part number is 57-82850711 ?

I did because I had to find one on a holiday weekend... Now I keep two under the rear seat at all times...

is there an automotive part number...dayco hayes etc...

It's cheaper than the Mercury part.
I carry a spare in my Spectre a friend goes through them a lot quicker than I do, he's got a foot throttle and the quick deceleration seems to take them out quicker.
Be careful pulling the remaining shreds back out of the reeds be gentle, the intake almost needs some kind of screen over it to protect it from a disinegrated belt.

thanks, matched it up with a dayco at pep boys today temporarily. hopefully none got sucked in the intake, ran the boat this afternoon for about 1 1/2 hours and everything seemed fine

I've never shredded one but on a friends 21 Skater with a foot throttle when one gets shredded up there is hardly anything left under the cowl, most of the belt gets sucked down the intake since it sits right in front of the belt with nothing to stop it from going in. That's how I got a spare, he borrowed one of my belts to go to Napa and get one for his one day. He actually got a heavier spring from Mercury for the belt tensioner since he was loosing so many belts.

I havent had a problem but Ive heard they are an issue. I bought a spare from Merc last week but will try the NAPA belt. Is it an exact match?
