Take look at these head gaskets. I am re installing the heads on a couple of 502s. Laid the head gasket on the block. It just doesn't look right. I am in no way an authority on this sort of thing. So I thought I should get some expert advice from the board

The holes for the cylinders are not round. They are oval shaped. You can see part of the deck is exposed, then the gasket protruds into the cylinder area. Seems way wrong to me, but what do I know. I ordered them from Merc, they came out of original Merc packaging, and they are all the same.

Are they right, or are they wrong? I will not install them untill I know for sure.

Felpro were used on mine when they were freshened.
502 efi's

That looks like a 454 gasket. They shouldn't hang into the bore like that.

Look like stock merc gaskets. But probably for a 454ci.
