Default Y2k Speakers

It's getting close to delivery so I'm ready to order some stereo equipement. I know Krak has done some installation. I was thinking two 12" subs somewhere and four 6 1/2 speakers in the cockpit. Do the sides of the Y2K allow speakers or is the foam coring in the way?

Tom,

12" subs will fit, barely, in the footwells where I mounted 10" subs, and virtually not too many other places!!

For mids, I am installing 6.5" pair at the kick panel area of the front seats (below the throttle linkage area), and two pair of 6x9's behind the front seats in the gunwales, one above the trim rail, one below. There seems to be no foam issues under the combing, my only concern is enough depth near the rear seats on the pair above the trim rail - there appears to be 4-5" of depth. I will add dyna-mat type material on the cockpit interior areas to add strength and reduce vibrations. Hope this helps - I've had many local experts look at the boat, and this is their best approach.....

PS, sent your DVD in the mail yesterday, enjoy!!

Thanks for the reply. How big of speakers can you put under the rear seat facing forward? I want to keep as much weight aft as possible.
Lookin forward to that DVD!

There is a well there glassed in and only a couple inches I believe...I dont think you can add anything there unless you cut out the well...Krak could tell you for sure...I'm just going from memory...

Yep, OZ is right - the underseat well is double lined, intended for use as a cooler, it only has about 8-9 inches of freeboard max.

I think they should all be on the rear bulkhead. with a access plate to get at it in an emergency, through the storage locker.
