I have had my Excel stored for 2 years and it was winterized, fogged, etc by a good shop.
I want to take it out the 4th, the gas has been in without a stable, but I've been told not to pump it out about 40 gal, unless it smells like terp and just to add some stable; and other than a new battery what should I do before I crank it on the hose.

If it were my boat, I would look at a loss of 80 bucks worth of gas as insurance that I won't mess up something more expensive in the engine.

On the other hand, you may turn the key and it will run just fine.... it's a RISK thing....

Question is, where does one dump 40 gallons of gas????

hmmmmmmm....... how about running it in an old lawn mower, see if it croaks....

There are places to drop off old gas. Just like used oil. Where are you located? We are in an ExxonMobil distributor in Indiana and we have connections of people around the midwest to take old gas and oil and dispose of it properly. I agree with everyone else that gas is bad. The aeromatics disapate after time. Normally after 10 months. If you have race gas, it goes bad in about 4. Good luck and I would suck it out!!

Where can I drop off the old gas? The boat is located in a barn near Reno,Nv.

A tank of gas with no stabilizer forms varnish in 6 months and with stabilizer good 12 months...I have seen people start up and burn it off and I know folks who have it pumped out...2 years is a bit of a stretch unless stabilized..then maybe??
