Can you tell by the VIN # whether it's an XL, XLT, King Ranch, etc?

Thanks in advance

Usually you can tell by the factory options what it is......Typically xl are base nothing, no power and usually vinal seats. The XLT usually has cloth and a lot have rubber flooring, usually no leather, but does have power. The Lariat has all the cool stuff from Ford. Leather, premium audio, power, overhead consoles, you know alot of options.... Most of the time they don't put leather in the xlt, they just step up to the lariat.....
