Default 2001 7.3 PSD F250 with 93K miles.

How tired is it? Anything to watch out for?
I wish our resident Ford expert was still out there posting.

Found one on Autotrader, Platimum Edition, quite limited model from what I can tell from researching.

Brian,
Just spoke w/ a friend a few days ago that bought a 2002 7.3L w/ chip 4x4 4-door short bed white/ tan trim lariat w/ 135K miles on a whim and realized 5 days later he really can't afford the truck. He bought it from his boss who commuted from VA to SC every weekend for 8 months. Told me he needed to sell it for what he bought it for (around 23K)
Let me know if your might be interested. I can ask him for some pics.

Motor/truck design has been around long enough to be a seasoned vetran,,it seems that the real weak link in the earlier S/Dutys was the transmission, find a competent transmission shop(that you can trust) and have that checked. Other than that with the miles on the truck its probably had a couple of brake jobs(at least on the front) and I would probably suggest front brakes with good quality rotors(raybestos comes to mind).
The platinum edition was hard to come by, but looked fantastic.

I agree with the above statement. I own a 97 and my brother owned a platinum addittion before buying the HArley addition. The miles should be no problem as long as the oil was changed ona regular basis. My truck has a 178,000 on it now and still runs like new.

The used truck market is flooded right now with all the incentives and rebates auto companies have. If your going to buy used I would would have car smart or reputable company check it out out from front to back and in between. Never know if your getting someone eles problem

I'm not sure about the newer ones, but I have a 1996 F350 4x4 that I bought new. 7.3 PSD and a 5 speed manual transmission. I have had to only put in 1 set of glow plugs and 2 glow plug solenoids. I also had to replace the cam positioning sensor (engine synchronizer) twice. I have 249K miles on this truck. I replaced the front brake pads at 150K and the rear shoes are still original, as is the clutch. I can't say enough good things about it. It's no barn burner, but it pulls my boat fine.
