Valve covers for 454 with Roller Lifters
#1
Does anybody have a reasonably priced set of (4) valve covers to fit a BBC with rollers? Or does anybody have source
for valve covers? This twin motor rebuild is killing me.
Thanks...

You can run crane gold and comp cams pro-magnum roller rockers with stock valve covers by grinding oil dripper tabs off inside s valve covers and sandwhiching a set of felpro rubber valve cover gskts that have the steel shim in the gskt. I have done this, the aftermarket valve covers i bought from cp performance wouldn't clear the procharger on my motor. I ran a bead of high quality black rtv on top of stock o-ring in vcover (between the gskt and valve cover) and use slightly longer bolts. Ive done this with stock heads, merlin heads and afr heads,it doesn't leak, and even though it sounds cobbled when you look at motor you can't even tell its been done, good luck,Smitty

I thank you all for your responses.
I believe that I will first look into the spacers that
trick marine has.. I have a set of cast valve covers that
came off a late model 454 truck, they're pretty decent, but
of course, just not tall enough.

I bought 2 sets off ebay a year ago. They are polished aluminun w/flames etched in the cover. They are not the tall ones. they look very cool and clear my Crane Gold rockers. I use the cork gasket with steel in the middle. I think it's Felpro.
