I just noticed a grinding noise on my trailer that's under my Spectre that I just bought. Started looking around and on 2 of the 4 outboard pads I can see the rotor through what should be the rivets holes that hold the pads to the backs.

My questions is this, is this a common pad that I can get locally or do I have to go to the manufacturer for them?? I called a couple times today and the phone just rang and rang. It would be nice to be able to pick them up at a Napa. Any ideas on part numbers????

Common pads used are Chevy Cavalier, but they might be totally different on your trailer. Might as well remove a couple and take them in to the store to compare. Try Chevy Cavalier 1982-1992. (This is the case for Kodiak Disc Brakes.)

Cool. That's kind of what I was hoping. The trailer is a 2000. I'll try and call them again tomorrow and see what I can find out. Hopefully it will be something very common and obtainable. Something with a lifetime warranty at Autozone.

I have Owens and Sons and just put pads on it last week. I think Owens has used Kodiak brakes for a while. They are late model GM pads (Caviler, skylark etc.). I think the code was D289. My local autozone had them for like 10 bucks.

Just remember the car pads are semi metalic .They will rust to the break surface . They told me to run the non metalic pads.

That makes lots of sense Strip. I didn't even think about that. I talked to the parts guy today at Owens and got the part numbers. Now it's just a matter of braving the heat and slapping them on...

Yup, I figured the backing plate would rot out before the pads would so I bought the cheapest non metallic i could find,. For a whopping 10 dollars a set I will put a set on every time I have the wheels off.

Kodiac suplys the brakes to Myco. Even buying the calipers and pads direct was cheaper .

Under my Scarab On my old 1987 Owens and Son trailer it had the ford style brakes 9 or 10 1/2 drums.4 1/2 bolt pattern. I had put the lifetime Napa brakes on it and would replace them every winter.I think Dico is the one that makes the kits for them .Also the tounge actuator. You can buy the parts or kits anywhere!!The people at Owens where allways real nice .


Also ck the wheel cyclinders I had them rust up real offten.The inside of the brakes of mine where coated with some kind of tar looking stuff for rusting.
