HELP!!! Popping sound from carb on 97 350 carb???
#1
My buddy has a 1997 23' intercepter 350 lx carb non mag and is noticing a popping sound/miss coming from the carb only when running at about 3000-3200 rpm. Runs fine and then a single pop, will run fine for another mile or two and then another pop.
Changed plug wires, plugs and distributor cap, did not cure symptoms...
Anyone have any thoughts on what is causing this????
Thanks in advance for your comments!!!!

could be one of many things. Clogged jets in the carb, bad power valve (if it's a holley), low float level, bad coil, bad ignition module, moisture in the connector that goes to the module, whiped out cam lobe, oil leaking onto the plug wires causing them to arc. That's where I would start.

If he has a Q-jet, make sure he checks the power piston. That's the thing that the primary metering rods connect to. I had one stick on me once, and it caused a lean condition which wiped out a few valves in a new set of heads.
And it happened right around 3500rpm!
