Drive Indicator Actuator
#1
Since the rest of my 28 is working perfect, I might as well fix this nagging issue.
I have the single Mercruiser indicator for the Drive and Tabs. The actuator for the drive is a Blue Water Actuator which is an external rod that attaches to the drive ram. The problem is that it reads the opposite of what I need, when the ram extends (drive up) the indicators shows the drive going down. What are others runnig on their 28s with this type of indicator? I was told by Blue Water to change the cable to the top of the indicator, there is no room to do this.
Anyone?

Well since I blew the drive this weekend, while I wait for the new XR I ordered. I want to fix this actuator problem.
I can't change the card. With the Bluewater actuator I don't even get full throw of the indicator. What type of actuator was the boat set up for? I've seen similar set ups to what I have except they work in reverse of this one, like I need it to do.
Anyone have the brand and/or part number???
Jo???? Pepe???? Help!!!

The issue is this. As the tabs are lowered the cables are pulled and the indicator pegs are moved down the scale. Cool. But, as the drive is lowered the stopper on the ram comes into contact with the(already extended) plunger and PUSHES the cable and then the indicator peg moves up on the
scale. It's not a deal breaker ,but, it would be nice to have all the pegs represent the same action accross all pegs.
" Oh yea, the center peg when it's up really means that your drive is down"
I would have to modify the bracket to accept the cable from the top side. This would work well because the orentation (sp) would be reversed but that requires much more room than I have.

You could use a merc shift bracket to reverse the action $65 from bam and add another cable about $30, modify the bracket a little and it can be configured to go either way. You would need to do a little engineering to get the throw just right though. Chris

On second thought just get the heads up indicators. I think that they can be configured to work either way and take bottom cable entry that there is space for in the Panteras.

I appreciate the input but the real solution is to get the Mercury actuator. It functions in the opposite way than the Bluewater, when the drive goes down a bar sticks out of the actuator, looks ugly, but works. I didn't buy one yet, hoping to find a used one to try.
