We are looking for a corporate sponsor or two who would be willing to sponsor a rescue dive team for our upcoming charity Poker Run. The tragedy this past weekend and subsequent discussions here on OSO got us thinking of additional ways to help in case of an emergency. In addition to plans we already had in place with the Coast Guard, Chicago Marine Unit & Lake County Sheriff's Marine Unit we now plan to put two emergency divers in the air for the duration of the Poker Run. I can help you find the rescue divers, is the helo lined up already?

Thanks for the response. I have a long range bell jet ranger and two rescue divers lined up for July 23rd. When we prepared our budget for the Chicago Poker Run we were not planning to be needing divers. After the recent tragedy we started re-thinking safety for our event. Even though divers would not have made a difference in that case what if a boat overturned and trapped someone. We want to be prepared for the unthinkable. Our hope is our two divers will have the best seats in the house to a fun filled day of boating.

What we are looking for is sponsorship help to pay for the unseen expense of adding divers. We will have them figured into next years budget.

Go to NJPPC.com and contact their leaders. They cut a deal with the local paramedics/divers to attend all their Poker Runs free (on their own time) in return for their rescue services. So far, those service have not been needed....

That's a great idea. Actually the divers are giving us a break on the price. The helicopter is the expensive part. One way or another the divers will be in the sky for the run.
