I have the simrek halos as well, one of the original ones had broken, I ran in one weekend and noticed chalking and discoloration after about 10 hrs, ordered a set on mon put them on on thurs, drives are back to being shiney and running cool

The reason I prefer the Simrek showers is that the water inlet is on the side forward. As opposed to straight down. The photo below shows the difference. Some people are under the impression when the opening is straight down the water spinning from the prop is forced up. My experience is that this is not true. The prop movement is forcing water back and away from the boat. Just my .02.
