Oshkosh, Wisconsin Loud Exhaust Hassles
#1
I like checking in from time to time on problems people are having with the DNR up in Oshkosh or down on Lake Michigan with the sherriff's.
I was in Milwaukee on Saturday. Didn't get checked.
I want to head up to Lake Winnebago and do a run up the chain o' lakes, it's been a few years for me. Are they still ticketing everybody like they were a few year's back?
I don't have an extremely loud boat, but I don't think it would pass.
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Simply put, I don't go up there anymore. That's what the DNR's goal was and they have succeded. My advice is to not go up the river. Launch at Pioneer and head out to Winni and stay out there.

I've been there 4 times with no problems. I have CMI headers with silent choice and its loud when I open it up. Just be smart around the docks and don't open it up until you are a hundred yards after the no wakes and you should be fine. Great boating up there!

Yup, they still will pull you over and ticket you. I keep my boat up on Winnebago (eastern shore) a friend from the marina was forced to put mufflers on his boat. I do not go up there with mine even though I have silent choice because I do not want the hassles, not to mention all the mindless idiots you have to watch out for on the weekend...just my 02. There are still a lot of great places to hang out and
additionally the water temp is awesome.

The first thing the DNR did was check for silent choice on my boat. A cat with a extension box and silent choice? (!) Wisconsin does not recognize silent choice so my thinking is that they will make you turn it off and test loud.

One danger area is 1/2 way thru Buttemor where you cut hard left, 200 yards off shore by the buoys and homes. Those people have video'd and called the cops in prior years.
The Big Lake is all clear and that is where I am almost always.
