What is the lenght of the factory warranty on 496CI 425HP at the time of purchase? I am getting conflicting answers. Also, What extended plans are available at what price? This is for Mercury plans only. Thanks.

The standard warranty on the 496 is 1 yr. It can be extended to either 5 or 6 years. I don't know about pricing other than the price IS negotiable.

If a dealership has that new install special certification, you can get a warranty for two years vice the standard factory warranty for one year. Sunsation was just awarded this cert. For extended warranties (basically insurance policy's) break out some coin based by year extended...

I bought 5 additional years of warranty for a total of 6 from the original in-service date, (or whenever the manufacturer sends in the orginal warranty cards ). Expect to see $6000 list price per motor for 5 additional years.
