Buying a boat in Canada?
#2
bought my boat in Canada back in 2002. No problems, just a sh!t load of traffic comin back into the US. Make sure your paperwork is in order and look in all the nooks and crannies for contraband. I heard a story of a guy who bought a boat in Canada couple years back, and was visited in the states by the dea. they got a tip, they knew he had no clue. but the boat was seized and tied up for months.

I just bought a boat in Canada. The boat was originally made in England, and originally sold in the US, so duties were paid by the first US owner. I had to use a broker because I was not available to be with the shipper. I used Norman Jensen, 810-982-8183. Laurie Boucher. She can give you the info you'll need.

Hey KACHINA KEN when you learn how its done, post a new thread explaining it. Or on this thread.
I ask for this because I fear a possible buyer won't even chack on a Canadian owned boat because they are not properly informed.
Mine has been for sale all winter till now, and I have spoken with a few possible US buyers. They all ask me how to bring it across. I don't know myself.
So please let us know once you do. Thanx.

I bought my Cigarette from Canada (Ontario). The sellertowed it over the boarder for me and I hooked up in Niagra Falls. He just told the customs guy that he was bringing it to the US for service.
When I got back to California I had to contact the coast gaurd and they had a customs for for me to complete. All I had to do is get a letter from CRT saying the boat was manufactured in the US (which they were nice enough to do for me) and I didn't have to pay any duty on it.
