Engine operating temps, what should they be??

I have a 540 N/A. My oil temp never reaches 140, thats where the guage begins, and my water temp never breaks 100. There is no thermostat and a large oil cooler. Should't these temps be higher?

This is an interesting topic.Granted,the oil temp needs to be above 212 degrees.However,what is the downside to the water temp being just as cold as possible @13 to 15 PSI?

Where do you measure the oil temp, I also run a huge 2 pass cooler, in the pan I will see 220 but in the galley (after the cooler) I never saw any real temp. Now I just measure in the pan.

Pure energy,
You might want to see if you have enough crankcase ventilation as well. If you don't have enough breather in the valve covers you can have the same leaks as described. As far as the bearing, which one is wearing bad? This could be a couple of things.
