Need a Merc fuel pump - got one?
#1
I need a Merc fuel pump. Part # 842429T
Merc has come out with a superceded part (don't have that #) I do NOT want the new part, I want to old version.
This fuel pump is the type that mounts to the sea water pump.
Anyone have this? I need one (maybe two)
I have the new type, and I don't think they pump as much fuel as the old ones.

If you need more flow, cp sells this mod for your type pump http://www.cpperformance.com/detail.aspx?ID=939
I have made this upgrade on a 509 560hp bbc for a buddy with the carter m61045. It works fine. You just swap out the valve body. Or you can use the M5901P which allows you to use your stock lines (the pump arm is not the same as a block mounted pump, so you cant use the whole pump) http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...h.asp&N=400415
If you buy the carter BBC pumps make sure they have six screws holding them together round the edge. I think they all do.
CP's mod looks very much like the m61045 pump valve body.

Strip,
I just edited my last post. I found the box for the Carter pump I used, the m61045.
Doubt their flow numbers, but it pumps plenty for 560hp, no need for a fuel regulator.

Bill, Hi Ihave a similar problem. I do not have the proper fuel pump to mount to the seawater pump. I am trying to avoid electtric pumps and wanted to do this upgrade to feed my 565's. Any help would be great. Dave H.

How about the fuel pump off of the 500 efi's and the 575 sc's? Its part number 849930T1. I don't know it thats the part number you got for your superceeded part but you'd think if Merc sells that for 575 hp it should be good for your application.
