I just tried mine in the kitchen sink. No go. I think they are too heavy. There are keys for the ignition, cabin, the lock on the trailer, the glove box and the key for the gas cap. Never really thought about it before. I would have been screwed if they ever went in the drink!

I have two "floaties" on mine and did test them, they float.
I also keep two magnetic key boxes on my truck. And that's ALL I'm going to say on this particular subject....

On my first boat, a Baja Hammer, it had one of those fancy molded-in fiberglass (read slippery) swim platforms.....On one fateful dewy evening while tying up the boat for the night, I took a rather comical fall into the drink. I lost my keys, wallet and cell phone. Since that time, I make damn sure everything is in a watertight floating pouch. And yes, the keys float.

I've never removed the keys from the ignition of any boat that I've ever owned.
22 years as a boat owner and no "incidents"....yet!!
