Why not sell your Superbabi hull to me and build one with staggered 600s...
Personally, I think two big blocks is a bit much. One monster with the gear splitter so you could run two drives would work great... Or
Twin 500HP 427cube aluminum small blocks would be cool. Would not need the stagger and could keep the weight down...
I'd take one with just my little 502 if the wife would let me...

I am headed towards a crate 572 or build a single big (BIG!) block, normally aspirated to build hp the old fashion way. My recent work experiences with certain blower companies leaves a sour taste.......

lets supose the goal is to put inexpensive power into the boat, say 900 hp or so for speed and reliability, and to have it warranteed more than 6 months. If you threw 2 496s into the boat and an extended the warrantees on them (what, 4 or 5 years?), the question is would the 850 hp actually make a difference (over single big power) cost wise, speed wise and reliability wise, despite the extra weight and fuel consumption?

Having been an owner of a twin engine boat and knowing all of the added time and $$ that goes along, I'm for sticking with a single.
There are many benefits to having twins in a 30' boat though. You could bolt in 850 to 1050HP engine drive packages with great reliability and 5 year warranty. And we would not be talking about bow lift problems for sure. The boat would handle around the docks better too.

So Krak, your not thinking to convert your 425HP/496 into a 525HP with those aluminum heads and headers...

The Y2K that was built with twin 320HP/6.2s runs around 80mph.
So with 210HP more (425s), you likely see 92-93mph.
With another 200HP (525s) the boat would crack 100 without question...
The boat's not going to have a back seat though. Where we going to put the babes???

Pat You Do A Short Stagger. Yes Some Of The Rear Seat Would Be Lost. Perhaps You Could Have A Small Narrow Seat. If Not 3 Buckets Across The Front. But The Goal Here Is Top End. And You Have Safe Easy Power Plants That Will Keep On Running Year After Year !!! This Is All Just A Thought At This Point.
