Unhappy Outdrive Upgrade

What does it take to upgrade from a Bravo 1 to a Bravo XR? Is it worth doing? What does the XR offer that is not in the Bravo 1?

What hp are you running? You could upgrade to a BRAVO X Drive. There is a special on new X Drives. $4500.00 while they last.

With counter rotating props, are the drives LH & RH? I would gues that the answer is YES.

Bravo Drives will rotate in either direction. With that much horse power I'd put on a pair on XR's.

You need to change your gimble bearing to a "RED Dot Bearing also."

You should also install trim spacers in the trim clyinders to prevent them from tilting the drive too far, The XR has a bigger u-joint assembaly that will not allow the drive to tilt as far and can be damaged if th spacers are not installed. merc also says to change the u-joint bellows reataing ring. There is some agrument about this, I asked the instructor when I wne to Merc class last winter and he said that the reataing ring for the x series is jus a tiny bit thinner becuase in some rare situtions they were rubbing and tearing the ring out.

So it doesn't sound to hard. Long as the current location is good (x dimension??) I've done gimble bearings before. Anyone know what I would expect top pay for an XR drive?
