I was reading an article in this month's Powerboat Mag and they stated in the Conquest Cat boat test, "That the builder went as far as to use Duratec in the bilge."
Is it a gelcoat additive?
I am curious as to what this stuff is.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

It is an additive for gel coat. It will allow you to spray the gell with out using waxing agent. It also acts some what as a reducer if you get the clear. They also make a primer that is killer. They say to reduce at 50:50 but I never use more then 1/3 durratech to 2/3 gel.

Yes Art I forgot to mention that it allows you to put poly on top of epoxy. That stuff saved me big time when I filled my windows in epoxy.
The clear is about the same consistency as the grey or white. It is very similiar to a automotive high build primer like Glassurite (sp) makes.

One more thing that I forgot to mention. It gives your gell a tougher skin, makes it more like Vinnylester from what I have been told so it is less absorbent to water. The clear also gives one hell of a shine when you wet sand and buff it out.
