Default Merc Bravo SS Props turned gray? Help!

I have a 2002 292 Formula and I was at one of the Finger Lakes ( Seneca Lake ) last week. The boat was in the water 24/7 for the week ( first time ). Got home and saw the props and freaked. No shine what-so-ever. They now look like a brushed stainless to a gray? They do not feel the same. When I rub them my fingers want to grab instead of slide. I've asked everyone in my boating group and no one can figure it out? Anyone ever had this or have any ideas. The mer-cathodes are working fine. Any suggestions on cleaning. I am really fussy and don't want to make a mistake on cleaning. I got to get these back to the shinny stainless! Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Rick

Have you tried washing with some LimeAway? Probably some type of mineral common in your water.

Try lime away or a non abrasive toilet bowl cleaner. Non-abrasive being the key, don't use a Scotch pad or steel wool, you'll ruin the finish.

Muriatic acid. Hold your nose. Dont do it over your concrete.

Lime-away, Zepp Lime and Calcium remover, NE outdrive cleaner, CLR etc. I used CLR on mine about a month ago (after getting that crap like you did) and it worked ok, but I think Zepp (in gallons from Home Depot) worked better. Muratic Acid should do it too, but it's probably the trickiest to work with.
