Default worn gimbal bearing = chine walk?

Can a worn gimbal bearing cause a boat to chine walk? I'm pretty sure the answer is yes, since I had virtually no chine-walk before my gimbal became worn, and now that the bearing has been replaced the boat is handling much more like normal. I just don't understand why that would be the case. Any ideas?

I cant see a worn gimbal Bearing causing handling issues. Now if your gimbal ring/housing had slop in the pin.....then yes, the shifting of the drive side to side could cause an issue.

I was thinking the same as HP2000....

The gimbal ring will defenitly cuase a chine walk but not a gimbal bearing.

You're right. I mis read his post and thought he said that he had a worn gimble assembly. The bearing just supports the drive shaft, it doesn't locate the drive.
