Which boat to buy, 40 Skater or 39 MTI?

How do these boats compare in ride quailty and speed? I am not concerned with appearance differences just the performance. Looking to power with about 1350 x2.

Skater is the best powerboat made period. There is a reason other companies sub Skater out to layup their "special project" boats because they know Skater is the best at what they do. If performance is what matters then there is nothing to decide on other than Skater.

They are both top shelf boats. You can't go wrong with either one, however, I bet you'll get the MTI in half the time. Skater seems to build em slow while MTI is popping them out.

i think the 40 skater woudl probably compare better to the 42 mti then the 39. either boat is awesome. personally i like the cockpit of the MTI's more and you can get a cabin, but i dont think you can go wrong with either. did you check out the 40 Rage?

MTI is fantastic, and I tell you what...Gary Stray's rigging is perfect.
Just look at who wins the races, rough and calm.
The ride in a 39 MTI is unreal!!
With that power though i would go with the 42PR

The 1350's are a done deal. I know it will be fast. I was not aware the 39 MTI has a cabin? Truth be told a cabin means nothing to me. I am most interested in which will be the best rough water boat. I expect top speeds to really close so that is not a factor. I really like the Skater for build quality and reputation. I love the MTI styling and the cockpit. It seems to me the offshore racers are drifting towards MTI's lately. Must be for reasons?

FYI;
I have a 42PR on order that should be delivered within the next couple of weeks. I went with 1100 HP Sterlings and I expect speeds in excess of 160 MPH.
I recently visited the Skater factory while in Michigan, you will not meet a finer gentleman than Peter, but I still perfer the MTI over the Skater.
