Default Another Crazy Lake Tahoe Law

In addition, TRPA has adopted an ordinance that establishes a 600-foot no-wake zone around Lake Tahoe to minimize the noise impacts of motorized watercraft on residents, visitors and wildlife. The speed limit for all vessels is 5 miles per hour or less in a zone extending from the shoreline to 600 feet from the shore. These standards are enforced by the TRPA Watercraft Team. It operates a patrol boat on the Lake seven days a week from May through September each year.

We spent 3 days on Tahoe last weekend and was talking to the sheriff boat on the dock, ( very nice and professional) ( they use forward looking inferred and are running twin 496 HOs) They informed me that the Tahoe Regional Planing Agency patrol boat TRPA uses range finders and will take you're hull # and mail you a ticket for 5,000.00 if you violate the 600 ft. no wake zone. 500.00 if you do not contest the violation. in addition he also said that you may not represent you're self in court. also 15 mph in Emerald bay. No tickets, accidents or break downs this weekend! it was a good time.
