Question 5 Blade on a Donzi?

Just wondering if I would see an improvment with a 5 blade on a 2001 Donzi 33zx with 500efi's. I currently have 28 Bravo1's spinning 5050 rpms. Thanks.

Depending upon your goals as bblades stated the 5B propellers offer some significant advantages. You will see improved hole shot, increased acceleration, increased cruise speeds and top ednd will vary. By this I mean that it really depends how well you are dialed in now or your propellers current efficiency. Post some performance data and we can take a look with you.

Trimmed out on top end is 77gps. I would like to see an improvment on top end with keeping my midrange close to where it is now 3,500=51. Thanks.

With your current numbers, you more than likely will not see top speed gains. In fact you could lose a mile an hour.

On the brighter side, chances are you will increase the planing ability and the cruise speeds 1-3 mph.

With 1.5 gears, 5050 RPM at WOT at 77 MPH on GPS then you slip is at 10%. I would say that you will not an increase in top end with a 5B props. However with the HP 500 you need to run that motor at 5250 at WOT as this is were the peak HP is found.

The recomended rpm range at WOT for your engine is 4800-5200. The rev limiter is set at 5400. Therefore your not hurting anything by running the engine at 5050rpm.

That being said, if you are looking for the max top end speed, Lab Finishing the prop would put you at 5350 and may give you a few miles per hour. Because your slip % is low, you are a good candidate to gain performance.

On a 2002 33ZX with 500HP and "labbed" 28p Bravos I get 78 on GPS. Don"t care about top end with price of fuel. I would like to get max mph at 3600 -3800 rpm. Looking for best MPG. Ideas? Bob

OK Here is another situation fior some expert advice.
I have a 38 Powerquest, 2001 model. Has 575sc's stock,1.5 XR drives.
Running 32'Maximus 5 blades with some cupping.
Fantistic hole shot and midrange power, top end 80.5 ( gps) at about 4850 to 4900 RPM .
Should be about 84MPH. Do I need a 30' ----if so anyone interested in a trade.

rhmuir,

The 5B propellers should improve your cruise speed and MPH. I would recommend I would like to see you in a 24P or a 25P Hydromoitve P5-X. This should help you to achieve your goals.
