Went boating last weekend. Boat had 1/4 tank the last time I checked the gauge. Pulled the boat from the carport went straight to the gas station and filled it up to 79.5 gallons, my tank is supposed to be an 80 gallon tank from Baja's specs. I read the fuel gauge while I was on plane, is this incorrect? Or should I only be checking the fuel gauge when the boat is standing still in water?

Anyways are their locking gas caps? My current gascap is circuilar with two small holes in it. You twist it and it pops up and then you just unscrew it. Can i just replace the cap with a lockable one or does the whole assembly have to be changed?

Remember that most boat gas tanks are "V" shaped at the bottom to fit in the hull of the boat so instead of having 20gallon when the gauge is on 1/4 you may only have 5 gallon. My boat's fuel gauge reads different on plane than it does on the trailer or at idle. the sending unit is towards the back of the tank.

If ya can read the gas gauge when your on plane,, It must be a damm slow boat!!!
