Post All those with 380's - Props?

What props and HP are you running?

I currently have 28P Bravo 1's They have been cupped a little and are closer to a 29P. I just repowered and believe I need new pops. Before the boat was running 1200 Hp (600 ea)1.5 drives with the 28/29's I have a line on some 32P B1's Not sure if I should go with these or some 30's. Now as it stands I am running close to 1400 HP.

I know Scott you were running some 30's at one time. What RPM were you getting? I think you said you wanted to pitch them down a little.

Any help would be great. - Ray

The problem you have is that you have a older hull. My 2001 380w500efi's is running 5100 rpm with 31 labs. With this set up it will just hit 83 mph on gps.

Ray, If they are cheap and you think you can unload them if they don't work out I'd buy them.
I run labbed 30's and get about 5050 to 5100. The 29's will hit the limiters I am sending them out to get them labbed I don't like the way they look or run I think the guy that pitched them had no idea about high performance or bravo1 props. The cup is a must on our boats you will need this to help with bow lift.
I don't think owning a older hull is a problem (strange choice of words) I do think owning a older hull will scrub a couple miles off the speed. As you know there are options available to make it run just as fast as a 2002 with the same power. My boat is proof of that.
The reason I keep the two different pitched props is to give me help on those hot sticky summer days if I need more out of it I just change the props to the lower pitch but the 30's are the main props for me. I would not even bother with your 28's I just can't see them working out. Sorry this response is so chopped up I need sleep

I really doubt there are any "mods" that can be done to the hull to make up the difference in hulls. Unless you are willing to cut 4in out of your hull sides and rocker the bottom like the new hulls. I don't mean to offend but there is a HUGE difference in ride and handeling between the two.

This included removal of all material to the balsa core and the reshaping of the bottom including removing all hooks at the steps and transom the sharpening of the chines and trailing edges along with the addition of a rocker. The changes gave the boat a totally New Attitude. No comparison from how it ran before to how it runs now it could be a totally different boat. O.k. enough said we both understand and realize the difference.
Ray,
Sorry about drifting from your post. I wanted to add a couple of thoughts. You are more than welcome to try out my props if we can get together for some trials. I also have a left hand 30 that is for sale. I would sell at a reasonable price if you needed it. I would think with your new power and torque that 30's would be about the lowest pitch you could run. I think the only way to answer this is of course testing. When are we going to Florida?

Scott, thanks for the prop offer, but I allready told the guy I would buy the 32's They are suppose to be new in the box with only testing time on them. 750/pair I think its a fair price. I can have them labbed down if necessary.

No Fla trip yet but I am going to the miami show. Fly down - fly up (no boat) It looks as if my idea of trailering it to florida is just not going to happen. I will just have to settle for this climate for a while. I am hoping for a warm spring so I can get out there early. I cannot rack my boat until may 15th but I will be out there before that. If it could work out I would like you to be on one of the first runs. If the 32's are too much I'll give your 30's a try.

I am working out all the bugs now in my shop and I am going to go through all the systems to make sure they work. Depending if I can keep in the warehouse I may run it on the hose soon.

You talked about mods to your HP500's anything major or just a freshining?

Thanks - Ray

Ray -don't know if it helps much, but my marina mate took delivery of his 02 35 575's fountain (complete w/windshield , and it delivered with stock 34's. I know its a lighter hull, but he is running 1100HP, not 1400. If your running good, I'd bet 32's will bang off the limiter. ps. don't think high 80's-90 would be in the cards without 34's.

Ray, I'm using 28's also, but OF COURSE I'M ONLY RUNNING HP 500 EFI'S !! I just sent 'em to York Propeller to have 'em lab finished and increased to 29" pitch. They ran up to the limiters, but I personally would rather have the holeshot and the ability to have 'em hold in the rough water, so I'm sticking with 'em, 78 mph is fast enough for a "CRUISER" like me . I also have pulled the ECM's and am sending 'em to Tyler next week to have the reprogramming done, He called me last week and mentioned that he has done a LOT of the HP's and that it is curing the rich condition.
Sorry, got off subject there!
Anyway, I hope to see you(and Scott) on the water this year, after last year's debacle you guys need to get some serious boat time.
If you need a chase boat for testing, let me know, I'm planning on having the ol' tub out on the water in March again(if I get it all put back together, that is)
I'll also be at the Miami Show-staying at the Comfort Inn on The Beach (305)868-1200, and am also going to the OSO thing at Monty's, would be cool to see you there.
Later,
