My previous truck never needed 4WD at the ramp, my current truck does at times, same ramp. Tires is the factor here. I do need the 4x4 for the low range for backing the boat up the driveway into the garage, otherwise I could get by with a 2WD.
BTW, sharp looking truck!

Absolutely go with the 4WD. You will be willing to pay say, $40K for it when you sliding backwards down a slippery ramp. Do a search here on OSO. This topic comes up about once every 6 weeks and overwhelming general consensus is to buy the 4WD.

Been there, done that. I just sold my '01 F350 4x2 dually and replaced it with an '05 F350 4x4 dually. Not just because I wanted another truck but because of the few times I needed 4WD on the ramp and I also needed the crew cab instead of the extended cab. Ok, I also wanted a new truck.

up here in the far north I wouldnt be without it........although I go to unfamiliar ramps all the time......even dirt ramps......if youve never needed it so far and dont plan on going to many unfamiliar places in the future go 2 wheel

All my boating has been for the most part in FL and GA. Never needed 4wd to pull out of any boat ramp. I would think as long as you have a posi rear you'd be fine. Seems to me those that have problems don't have the boat set up on the trailer properly....you need to have the proper amount of tongue weight. I trailer a 30' boat to give you reference.

I was originally convinced that I did not need 4wd so I bought a dually without. It would have been alot cheaper to have purchased the right truck to begin with. Maybe everyone does not need 4wd for their application but I wish I had listened to others when I made this decision.
I am pulling a 9000# dry Fountain on a triple axle alum trailer
